Ring Lace
Lace scarves thin enough to be threaded through a wedding ring.
The thistle, in particular Onopordum acanthium (the cotton thistle)is the flower of Scotland.  and is featured in many Scottish and Irish knitting patterns, symbols and artwork.

Irish Lace Thistle Leaf Bath Ensemble

Supplies:
1 skein worsted cotton, linen or hemp
1 set of size 7 (US) single point needles
1 set of size 6 (US) double point needles
Tapestry needle
Scissors

Cast on: 29 stitches for medium cloth 39 for large
19 for Back scrubber

B4= Border 4 stitches
B= Border moss or garter stitch

Knit border for 1 inch then begin pattern.

Pattern:
Row 1: B4, purl, B4. all wrong side rows.
Row 2: B4,( ssk)x2,*(yo,k1)x3,yo,k2tog,sl1-k2tog-psso, ssk,* end with (yo,k1)x3,yo,(k2tog)x2,B4.
Row 4: B4, ssk,*k3,yo,k1,yo,k3,sl1,k2tog, psso* end with k3,yo,k1,yo,k3,k2tog,B4.
Row 6: B4, ssk,*k2,yo,k3,yo,k2,sl1,k2tog,psso*, end with k2,yo,k3,yo,k2,k2tog,B4.
Row 8: B4, ssk,*k1,yo,k5,yo,k1,k2tog,B4.
Row 10: B4,ssk,*yo,k1,yo,ssk,k1,k2tog,yo,k1,yo,sl1,k2tog,psso* end with yo,k1,yo,ssk,k1, k2tog,yo,k1,yo,k2tog,B4.
Row 12: B4,ssk,*yo,k2,yo,sl1-k2tog-psso* end with yo,k2,yo,k2tog,B4.
Row 14: B4, k1,*yo,k3,sl1,k2tog,psso,k3,yo,k2,*B4
Row 16: B4,k1,*yo,k1,yo,k2tog,sl1-k2tog-psso,ssk,(yo,k1)x2,*B4.
Row 18: B4,k1 * yo,k2,sl1-k2tog-psso,k3,yo,k1,B4.
Row 20: B4, k2,*yo,k2,sl1-k2tog,psso,k2,yo,k3* end with k2,B4.
Row 22: B4, k2,*yo,k1,sl1,k2tog-psso,k1,yo,k5* end with k3,B4.
Row 24: B4,k1,*k2tog,yo,k1,yo,sl1-k2tog-psso,yo,k1,yo,ssk,k1*b4.
Row 26: B4,ssk,*yo,k2,sl1-k2tog-psso* end with yo,k2,yo,k2tog,B4.
Row 28: B4,ssk,*k3,yo,k1,yo,k3,sl1-k2tog-psso* end with k3,yo,k1,yo,k3,k2tog,B4.

Repeat these 28 rows till one border distance from desired length. Knit border, bind off and weave in ends.

Back Scrubber:

Bind off all but 3 stitches, slide onto double point needles. Knit I-cord for 9", bind off and sew to opposite end of cloth. Knit a second I-cord for 9" and sew to bottom of scrubber.
